Pieces of a Woman | Film Review

Pieces of a Woman isn’t a film for everyone. It’s raw, intense, and emotionally brutal. It’s artsy and centered around the themes the story conveys. I found it powerful and couldn’t take my eyes off of what I was seeing for a single second. Vanessa Kirby shines as a woman named Martha who is going through the grieving process after a horrible tragedy. Her partner (Shia LaBeouf) and mother (Ellen Burstyn) try their best to lift her from her despair, but Martha is fully soaked in misery.

The performances are outstanding but Kirby is the star. She commands every scene. The cinematography is phenomenal and makes you feel like you’re in the room with the characters, while the score is subtle yet powerful. This is a potentially triggering film, but if it sounds like something you’d like to experience, I highly recommend it.

VERDICT: 4.5/5
