Ever wanted Freaky Friday to be a slasher film? Well, now it is. Freaky sees Millie (Kathryn Newton) swap bodies with the Blissfield Butcher (Vince Vaughn), and she and her friends have until midnight to swap the two back into their respective bodies before the switch is permanent. The kills are gloriously gory and the settings and costume design are fun and vibrant. My favorite thing about this movie was Vince Vaughn portraying a teenage girl though. He’s hilarious, and it was nice to see him back in a leading role. The rest of the cast are strong, but he and Newton are the standouts. I do wish there had been a touch more horror, but Freaky makes up for that with pure fun and relatable emotional beats.

VERDICT: 3.5/5
