Unhinged | Movie Review

I went into Unhinged assuming I’d have a fun time with a decent action/thriller, and the movie actually surpassed my expectations a little. Sure, I still had loads of fun watching it, but this was a surprisingly violent, action-packed thrill ride. The premise hinges (ahem) on a single mother named Rachel (Caren Pistorius) taking her son Kyle (Gabriel Bateman) to school. She’s running late, and when she comes upon a vehicle stopped at a green light, she aggressively honks at the driver (Russell Crowe). This pisses him off, and he’s determined to show her what a bad day actually is.
The performances were quite good, with Crowe being deliciously deranged. Stupid decisions are made and the ending wasn’t groundbreaking, but this was a wildly exciting ninety minutes.

VERDICT: 3.5/5
