If Anything Happens I Love You ripped my heart out of my chest, stomped on it, then replaced it. I don’t want to reveal too much about the story because I feel like it would ruin this twelve minute short film, but the parents of a daughter who died in a tragic manner are engulfed in grief and seemingly can’t escape the torment and anguish of just living their daily lives without her. There is not a single word of spoken dialogue, but the stunning hand-drawn visuals and incredible audio, score, and soundtrack powerfully evoke the emotions that the film wants you to feel. I can see this being triggering for some, and I definitely recommend reading up on this if you feel like it could affect you, but this is an incredibly important work of cinema. I can already smell an Oscar nomination.
