Words on Bathroom Walls was an extremely moving surprise. The film follows Adam (Charlie Plummer), a teenager who is diagnosed with schizophrenia. His life immediately takes a left turn and he not only is placed on a clinical trial but must also start a new school and hide his diagnosis from the other students. I was impressed by how well the film handled such a delicate topic, especially for a YA feature. It doesn’t go as deep as it could into the subject, but it does bring to light the stigma still surrounding mental illness. The entire cast is excellent, but Charlie Plummer is a rising star who both made me laugh and broke my heart. I’m not ashamed to admit I cried. Watch this gem of a film.

VERDICT: 4/5
