Rebecca (2020) | Movie Review

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Rebecca. I had just finished the novel a few hours prior and was excited to dive into this latest film adaptation. I’m a fan of Ben Wheatley and the cast is fantastic. Lily James and Kristin Scott Thomas steal the movie. This vision of the classic novel adheres fairly closely to the source material during the first half, but the second half takes some pretty major liberties. Some characters are enhanced or pretty much removed entirely. I didn’t mind this, but purists will probably be turned off by the changes.
Rebecca oozes style, from the colorful visuals to the splendid costumes. This is going to be a divisive entry, but I was left feeling satisfied and intrigued.
