Girl in Dior aims for the hearts of haute couture lovers, but ultimately, it’s style over substance. The paper thin plot traces ten years of the iconic Christian Dior’s life, from the start of his fashion line to his death. The main character is a fictional woman named Clara who goes from being a fashion journalist to a model for Dior. Other than some interesting facts about Dior, this is a fairly boring graphic novel. The illustrations are gorgeous, and being a fashion fanatic, I loved seeing how Dior impacted the world, but the tissue-thin story made me wish that this would wrap up sooner than it did. Girl in Dior is sadly only a read for serious fashion fans, and even then you’ll probably be left underwhelmed.
VERDICT: 2.5/5

I was excited too! The illustrations are stunning, but the story just didn’t do it for me, sadly.
