Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams | Book Review

This short story collection is the foundation for the TV series of the same name, but the book and show are COMPLETELY different. The short stories are (for the most part) drastically divergent from the adaptations, so don’t read this expecting it to be exactly the same. If you’re a fan of science-fiction and/or of Dick, this collection is well worth a read. The stories are fascinating and still prescient today, and there is a great deal of variety packed in. The writing is vivid and evocative, and it felt like I was in the universes he created. My only complaint is that the stories are a little too short. I would have liked to have spent a little more time in the worlds Dick conjured up, and often the endings left me unsatisfied. Still, I had a good time reading these works of short fiction.

VERDICT: 3.5/5
