This memoir was both fascinating and heartbreaking. Fisher recounts her experiences filming Star Wars and meeting fans, but mostly reveals her affair with Harrison Ford and the feelings she had for him. She includes diary excerpts, which only add to the ache I felt for her while reading. It’s also extremely gutting when she mentions the fact that some readers will be experiencing this book after her death. Fisher was a beautiful writer who makes you feel like her best friend that she’s confiding in, and The Princess Diarist made me laugh out loud (and tear up) several times. She is extremely honest and open in this book, which adds to the experience and offers a glimpse inside her mind and the life she lived. A must-read if you’re a Star Wars fanatic and/or love Carrie Fisher.
