Gerald’s Game by Stephen King | Book Review

This is genuinely one of the most twisted, unique books I’ve read. Focusing on a sex game gone horribly wrong, this is the story of Jessie Burlingame’s struggle to survive. That’s not all that’s going on, though. Jessie has voices speaking to her, a stray dog who is desperately hungry, and a possibly malevolent presence to also contend with. Fun times!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with Gerald’s Game, and several moments in the book churned my stomach. I was constantly on edge, and King’s writing style is so descriptive that I felt like I was in the cabin with the characters. This is definitely not a book for everyone, but if you can stomach gruesome subject material and love a good thriller, definitely read this before the film debuts.

VERDICT: 4/5
