Oh boy. This was terrible. Picking up after House of 1,000 Corpses (which was flawed but fun), this film follows the Firefly family as they try to escape the law. I actually found myself slowly growing bored while watching this film, and found it to be gratuitous for gratuity’s sake.
The acting is pretty bad. Sid Haig is the best out of the whole cast, and Danny Trejo is awesome, as he always is. The rest, though? Awful. The performances felt overacted and hammy.
Now to the gratuitous part. There was so much nudity in this film that wasn’t needed, and had no purpose besides to show tits and ass. I’m not a prude, but I feel nudity should be used to further a story and have a purpose, which it didn’t in The Devil’s Rejects.
The story was pretty unoriginal (and House of 1,000 Corpses suffered the same treatment). It rips off Texas Chainsaw Massacre and other slasher films, but doesn’t live up to those great heights. Like I said before, this film actually bored me and became a tedious chore to finish. The best part of the film? The last ten minutes. Also, the dialogue was horrendous.
I hated this movie, if you couldn’t tell. If it had been fun, I could have forgiven some of its flaws. Alas, the only positive things I drew from this film was Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding, Danny Motherfucking Trejo, and the last ten minutes.
Verdict: 2.5/5 Tutti Fuckin’ Frutti’s
