Sleeping with Other People is a raunchy comedy starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie as Jake and Lainey, two people who can’t seem to commit in relationships. They lost their virginity to each other, and meet years later at a Sex Addicts Anonymous meeting. They soon forge a friendship, and help each other with their dating pratfalls.
The acting is great, with the two leads having good chemistry and cracking dialogue. The supporting actors, including Adam Scott, Amanda Peet, and Natasha Lyonne, help flesh out a pretty predictable story.
The film is pretty much all about sex. Yes, it explores the main characters relationship and their feelings toward one another, and their struggle with commitment, sex is what holds everything together and is almost a crutch to the film.
I felt a little disappointed, to be honest. There was potential for this film to be different and refreshing, but it feels a little stale and extremely predictable.
Verdict: 3/5
