The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (2009) Film Review | 100 Day Film Challenge – Day 41

The last film in the epic The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, this film centers around Lisbeth, who is accused of trying to murder her father and of killing her guardian. Mikael will do anything to prove her innocence. Due to their dogged determination, dirt secrets arise and deadly consequences occur.

Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist knock it out of the park as Lisbeth and Mikael, respectively. I loved seeing Lisbeth both as a vulnerable woman and as her pierced, fierce badass persona.

This is an insanely gorgeous film. Every shot is memorable and has meaning. This felt like a combination of the themes of the first and second films. Like the previous two films, this movie features graphic rape scenes.

For the most part, this was an interesting, compelling story to follow. Some parts dragged, though, and slowed the pace of the film down.

This is an incredible trilogy closer, and a must-watch thriller in its own right. I highly recommend binge-watching the entire trilogy.

Verdict: 4/5
