Why I’m Hyped For American Gods

Starz dropped the trailer for their new show American Gods at SDCC 2016, and it looks nothing short of amazing. Here’s why I’m hyped for it:

-The Cast

With a cast that includes Ricky Whittle (The 100), Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Gillian Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, and Dane Cook , this show is packing major talent. I feel like these performers were perfectly chosen and will portray the characters faithfully.

Follow the Gods

– It’s Based Off Of Neil Gaiman’s Novel

The show is based off of Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name, so it’s safe to say the show is going to be interesting. Gaiman wrote other iconic works such as Coraline, Stardust, and the Sandman comic series.

– The Story

American Gods revolves around, well, gods. The story follows a man named Shadow (come on, that’s such a badass name!), who is grieving the loss of his wife. On the plane ride to her funeral, he meets a mysterious man named Mr. Wednesday… Who happens to know a shit-ton about Shadow. Shadow’s world is forever changed after that. With gods such as Media, Easter, and Technical Boy, you can color me intrigued.

Stay Inspired

– The Producers

Bryan Fuller and Michael Green are producing this show, which has me majorly excited. Fuller produced the wonderful Hannibal, as well as Pushing Daisies. Green is an executive producer on Gotham, and co-produced Heroes with Fuller. I think it’s safe to say the show is in safe hands.

With an amazing cast, a fascinating story, talented producers, and incredible source material, American Gods looks like it could be the Next Big Thing in television. I’ve seriously watched the trailer dozens of times, and 2017 can’t come soon enough.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, please do yourself a favor and watch it now:
